Plants vs. Zombies was a game that helped prove that smartphones were a viable casual gaming platform, but over the years, the game has grown rather stale. Last August, PopCap, the developers of the game, announced that a successor to Plants vs. Zombies would be coming in 2013, but left out specifics. On Monday, however, the developers confirmed that Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time will launch sometime in July.
It’s unclear what platforms the game will launch on first, but we’d assume that it will at least launch on iOS, Mac OS X, and Windows on launch day. Like it’s predecessor, it may also make its way to the XBOX 360, Android, Chrome, the Nintendo DS, Playstation 3, and PS Vita.
