How to Download Previously Purchased Apps on an iPhone

If you’ve upgraded your phone, deleted apps or downloaded software on another iDevice, you can add them to your iPhone for free by accessing the App Store’s Purchased section.

Steps

  1. Tap the App Store icon on your iPhone’s Home screen to launch the App Store app.

  2. Tap the Updates button at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Tap Purchased at the top of the interface.

  4. Scroll down the list of apps to find the one you want to download to your iPhone. Now tap the Download button (the cloud with an arrow in it) to download the app.

  5. The status of the download is shown by a small bar on the app’s icon and the app will appear on your iPhone’s Home screen.

  Tips

  • You can launch the app you have just installed from within the App Store app by tapping the Open button that appears when the download is complete.
  • Tap the Not on This iPhone button to show only apps that aren’t currently installed on your device.

Warnings

  • Some apps downloaded on an iPad may not be compatible with an iPhone.
  • Make sure you are signed in to your App Store account to access previous purchases.
